New Delhi: A man who was part of a group that filmed themselves gang-raping two women and then posted the videos in WhatsApp has been arrested in Odisha.
Subrata Sahu of Bhubaneshwar was arrested earlier this week by the CBI, said activist Sunitha Krishnan, who launched a campaign last month called “Shame The Rapist” to identify the men and have them punished after she was alerted to the heinous videos. The man who has been arrested is likely to be brought to Delhi today, said sources.
Ms Krishnan, who is based in Hyderabad, is a rape survivor and runs an NGO. Late in February, the Supreme Court acted suo moto or of its own accord and ordered the CBI to investigate the case.
Eight cases have been filed by the CBI since then. The suspects are believed to belong to West Bengal, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh.
