KOLKATA, March 16 : A Dubai-bound Emirates flight with 296 passengers on board suffered a bird hit shortly after take-off and had to return to the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport early on Friday.
All the passengers and crew members were safe, according to sources at the airport.
Permission to land
It was when the left wing of the aircraft was hit by a bird that the pilot contacted Air Traffic Control and sought permission to return which was granted, the sources added.
Repairs under way
Repairs were being carried out on the affected wing of the aircraft.
