Berlin, April 17: University of Heidelberg is in a fix and doesn’t know how to deal with this situation that has them running for help.
According to a report, the demand for Sanskrit and Indology courses has gone up in the past few years and the South Asia Institute has started a summer school in spoken Sanskrit in Switzerland, Italy and India too.
The Universities claims that they receive many applications every year for the course and they also reject many applications sue to the high number of applicants. In Germany 14 universities teach the Indian ancient language.
The summer course spans over a month usually in August and draws application from across the globe.
Apart from Germany, many students who apply for the course are from US, Italy and UK.
Officials at the University say that when they had started the course 15 years ago they had decided to shut it after a couple of years, but now the demand is such that they are expanding to other European countries.
