Mangalore, Sep 14: More than 12 hours after detaining a Dubai-bound Muslim passenger at Mangalore International Airport on charge of possessing “suspected explosive materials”, security officials and police have finally admitted that their suspicion was wrong.
The incident took place late night on Saturday. The police held the passenger for questioning only to realize that he was innocent.
According to the reports, Mohammed Abdul Khader of Kasargod was on his way to Dubai when the incident took place. It’s said that a woman from his neighborhood wanted Khader to deliver a package to her relative who is in Dubai.
However, when the officials asked if the luggage contained any electronic items, Kadher said there was only a package with food items. When the officials checked, tab and the bottle of hydrogen peroxide was found in it. Out of suspicion, the officials took Khader for questioning and the lady who gave the parcel also arrived to explain the situation.
However, after the questioning, DCP K V Jagadish confirmed to the media that no explosive material was found in the luggage. The bomb detection and disposal squad from Bangalore also said that it was not an explosive material.
Later, Mohammed Haji, father of the passenger told press persons that his son has never involved with such activities and asked media not to spoil his image.
