GAS fairs organised to make Mangalore Kerosene free city: A.B. Ibrahim

AB_Ibrahim_DCMangalore, September 16: The Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim has informed that, with a view to make the city-kerosene free; LPG Connection has to be provided to every home, in this regard during the month of October, Gas Fairs will be organised at Mangalore, Suratkal and  Ullal.

Deputy Commissioner chaired a meeting at his office hall on Monday, on stepping forward to make Mangalore-Kerosene-free city and revealed this information. Special campaign will be organised on October 8th, 9th and 18th, 19th and those who are availing kerosene oil through the ration cards will be provided with LPG connections. For this purpose, 4 counters will be opened in Mangalore limits and 1counter in Ullal. Mr Ibrahim said; in this fair; Corporation officials, municipal officials, bank and gas company officials will be present and gas connections will be provided.

The DC has said that, to avail GAS connection, those who own a house, must provide the photocopies of tax-payment letter and ration card; those who stay in rented houses must provide self-announcement letter and photocopy of ration card. Persons without ration card and house number can provide any identity document and get the GAS connection. Currently; total of 6,524 card holders are availing kerosene at the fair price shops in the city and Ullal. They will be provided loans from the bank and given the connection. Under the MCC limits, the SC / ST benefiters and people with income less than Rs 1 lakh will be provided the financial aid from Municipality and the rest will be provided loans from the DCC Bank and other nationalized banks to provide the gas connection. DC explained that loans should be returned in monthly instalments. The DC said that the public’s need not worry that the BPL card may change as APL card, if the gas connection is taken.

He instructed the officials to collect accurate information of the APL and BPL houses coming under the Corporation and Ullal town limits, within the next two days.

In this meeting, Sharana Basappa Deputy Director of the department of food and supplies, Project Director of DUDC Takat Rao, Mohan Rao Tahsildar of Mangalore were present.
