Mangalore, October 22: “Goodudeepa“competition was organised by Namma Kudla Tulu journal on the eve of Deepavali at Kudroli Shree Gokarnatha Sanctum on Tuesday, October 21st. The competitors exhibited their wonderful talents.
The sanctum glimmered with different kinds of goodu-deepas, adding colours to the program. Variety of artistic goodu-deepas enthralled viewers. The goodu-deepas were artistically designed using the fresh local paddy stalks, glass bangles, vegetables, flowers, grains, and the locally available materials.
Mayor of Mangalore City Corporation Mr Mahabala Maaarla launched this competition.
President of the temple H S Sairam, Raghavendra Kulur, Ramesh Kumar, Urmila Ramesh, Dr B G Suvarna, Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli, Kadri Navneet Shetty, B P Karkera, Namma Kudla president, Harish B Karkera, Leelaksha B Karkera, Suresh B Karkera, Mohan B Karkera, Santhosh B Karkera, Damodar Nisarga, A C Bhandari, Ananda Mijar and others were present as guests on this occasion.
This competition was conducted under 3 sectors such as Traditional, modern and unique model. The first and second places in each section were felicitated with gold medals. Consolation prizes were given to the goodu-deepas which were appreciated by the jury and mementos were distributed to all the participants. A special prize was also given to the board which brought the highest number of goodu-deepas.
