Mangaluru, November 3:In a function organised at Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatheshwara Temple auditorium on Sunday November 2nd, Jaya C Suvarna, president of All India Billawa Federation and chairman of Bharat Bank, was felicitated for being bestowed the prestigious Karnataka Rajyotsava Award for 2014.
Former union minister B Janardhan Poojary, inaugurated the function, spoke on the contributions of Suvarna to the society and added that his services have been duly recognized through the Rajyotsava Award.
Poojary felicitated Suvarna and his wife Leela by presenting them a memento and a shawl.
Accepting the honour, Suvarna said, “I get inspiration to work from Kudroli sanctum. Working at the sanctum during the renovation of the temple was indeed my greatest achievement”.
Janardahn poojary has demanded the chief minister to abolish the traditional practices of driving the women and children out of the residence on certain days, since there is no secure place now a day.
Nithyananda D Kotian, Billava Association Mumbai, Deputy Mayor Kavitha Vasu, Sai Ram, president, Gokarnanatha Temple, Raghavendra, Mayor Mahabala Maarla, treasurer Padmaraj, and trustee B K Taranath were present.
The guests were welcomed by Devendra Poojari and Harikrishna Bantwal compeered the programme.
1500 Sarees presented in the form of Prasadam:
Post the felicitation programme, from the sanctum 1500 sarees were distributed to the women in the form of prasadam. Women fron Udupi, Puttur, sullia and othr places participated in the programme and were seen waiting for the sarees in queue even after the programme. Even the devotees from other states who arrived at the sanctum received the sarees.
