CID summons Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat in relation to Shyamprasad Shastry case.

Mangaluru, November 3: Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Bangalore has summoned Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, RSS leader from Dakshina Kannada for probing in relation to the suicide case of Shyamprasad Shastry.

Shyamprasad Shastry (55) a resident of Puttur had shot himself with a country gun at his residence on August 31st and had died at a private hospital later in Mangaluru.

It is gathered that the deceased had phoned Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat before he committed suicide. Based on this, the CID has now summoned Dr Bhat.

In a death note discovered at Shyamprasad’s house, Shyamprasad had reportedly stated that he was taking the extreme step due to threat calls he received from the Ramachandrapura Math in connection to the sexual harassment case against its spiritual head Raghaveshwara Bharati.

Case was registered by  Puttur cops under sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 306 (abetment of suicide) of the IPC and 66A of the Information Technology Act (sending offensive messages through communication service).

The CID crew had also visited Shastri’s house in Badekkila in Kedila village on September 15th and recorded statements from Shastri’s wife, son and few relatives.

Anshumathi Shastri, daughter of Diwakara Shastry and Premalatha, residing at Banashankari, Bangalore, had alleged Sri Raghaveshwara Bharati and his disciples of sexual harassment. Based on her complaint, the police had registered a case against the swamiji and others under IPC sections 354A (sexual harassment) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

Deceased Shyamprasad Shastry is the brother of Diwakara Shastry.
