Kundapur, November 4: The main accused in Uppunda goldsmith burglary case has been nabbed by the Udupi district special police branch.
The cops have nabbed Ravi Jittan at Madikeri and seized the jewellery.
A team of 5 bandits had attacked on the goldsmith Sudheendra Shet near Sonarakeri at Uppunda while he was moving through the paddy fields late evening after closing his shop. Chilli flour was sprinkled at the Sudheendra Shet, his father sister and Anil Shet, after which they were attacked by a knife. Post this, the burglars had fled with jewellery worth 12 lakhs.
Four of the burglars were already nabbed and prime acused Ravi Jittan went absconding.
The cops due to their alertness and timely action had nabbed four of them on august 8th who had fled the venue by a car after the burglary. They are namely Prakash from Ripponpet, Chandrahas from Nittur in Udupi, Pradeep Poojary from Karkala and Durgaprasad from Mulki.
The cops have seized the jewellery weighing about 427 grams worth 12 lakhs which were kept on loan in various private firms at Somwarpet, Kushalnagar and other places of Coorg district.
