Mangaluru, November 7: Due to the allegations about sale of houses which were sanctioned under Indira Awas and Basava Vasati housing schemes of the central government in the district, MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, has instructed the deputy commissioner (DC) of the district to conduct a detailed inquiry into the matter since the beneficiaries of these schemes are expected to reside in these houses. He has also requested the DC to provide him too a copy of the investigation report.
He presided over a district level review meeting held at Netravati Hall in zilla panchayat, Mangaluru on November 6th Thursday.
He expressed his dissatisfaction over the delayed implementation of various central government-funded schemes and also the failure of departments to ensure that poor households are granted the benefits of the central government’s Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Programme. He also pointed out there are information that the same individual has been allotted two houses under government schemes, and sale of one among them by the concerned. As he is answerable to the central government on effective implementation of central government schemes, he wished the authorities to take actions sooner.
Tulasi Maddineni, Zilla panchayat CEO, said that a complaint from Beltangady taluk has been received about sale of such houses. She added that local MLA has information about it and instructed the officials concerned to register cases against erring beneficiaries.
Satish Kumpala, Zillal panchayat vice president, objected about the fact that a contractor named Sai Sudhir, who had been blacklisted, has been allotted contract work again. The concerned officer explained as no one else came forward to take up the work on contract the work was given to him.
Supreme Court has directed not to put up humps in the highways. Nalin even questioned about the rules under which humps were erected on national highway. They were asked to be to be removed in the previous meeting. Nalin Kumar wished to know the steps taken towards this. Hanif, National highways department official, said that they are yet to prepare estimate for hump clearance.
