Up gradation of Mangaluru railway junction to world class level – MP Nalin

  Mangaluru, November 8: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has revealed to the media that, “A Survey has already been undertaken to upgrade Mangalore junction into world class railway station”.

He chaired a meeting at circuit house, here on Saturday, November 8th with the officers of railway departmental and national highway authority.

Nalin said, after holding meetings with railway department once in 3 months, various works have been begun. “Construction of Jeppu-Kudpadi over-bridge will be over before June 2015. Construction of railway over bridge at Haleangadi will be done with funds from both state and union government with an estimation of Rs 4.56 crore.

A Proposal has also been sent for the extension of railway station at Subramanya and BC Road. The construction of toilets at Subramanya railway station is under completion. A proposed demand for 17 ROB has been sent to Union government. The survey for railway over-bridge at Jeppu-Mahakalipaddpu railway crossing has been done and the work will commence soon”. The Mangalore junction project will be carried under private-public partnership model. 63 acres of land are available with railways whereas this project requires 100 acres of land”, said the MP.

Speaking about including Mangalore as a separate railway division in next budget, MP Nalin Kumar said, “Mangalore railway station comes under 3 separate divisions such as Mysuru, Phalghat,and Konkan Railways, hence there are technical glitches. The technical problem would be resolved after consulting the departmental experts. Separate Mangalore railway division within 5 years of my tenure will be achieved”, he said.

The MP Nalin also made it a point to direct the officials of railway department to keep the railway station premises tidy.
