Mangaluru, November 13: Demanding for revision in wages, Nation-wide strike was called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) in the district, on November 12th Wednesday, and branches of all nationalized banks, including the head office of the Corporation Bank remained non-functional.
UFBU, the organisation of nine different unions representing diverse cadres of employees of nationalised banks, had called the strike following the failure of negotiations with the Indian Bank’s Association on September 25th. The forum has been demanding ‘adequate’ wage revision, pending since seven years.
The bankers demanded to implement the revised wages soon. In case the government fails to implement the wages, then the forum has warned of continuous strikes from December 3rd to 5th.
The customers faced inconvenience due to the strike.
