Moodbidri, November 14: Alva’s Nudisiri-2014, the 11th of its edition was inaugurated in the premises of Sundari Ananda Alva campus at Alva’s College in Vidyagiri, Moodbidri on Friday November 14th. The 44 cultural teams, different unions of the college, farmers association, and other dignitaries participated in the procession and made it colorful. The dignitaries were guided to the stage by a procession which began at the Vidyagiri campus.
Dr Mohan Alva Chairman of Alvas Education Foundation welcomed the guests.
Litterateur Na D’ Souza inaugurated the Alva’s Nudisri-2014 and Nadooja Dr Siddalingaiah presided this ceremony.
Na D’Souza said he was happy to inaugurate this occasion which has contributed a lot promoting art, literature and culture.
Dr Siddalingaiah regretted over the importance given to English language and while ignoring Kannada. Language is a platform to exchange our views and it should work towards uniting people. Regretting over the prevalence of superstitious practices even in the modern society, he urged the government to ban these false practices.
In-charge minister Abaychandra Jain, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, President of Town Muncipal Moodbidri, Ganesh Karnik, Amarnath Shetty, Supriya D Shetty were present among the dignitaries.
Maari Bhootha and Eere Nalike was the center of attraction. This extinct culture was followed decades ago.
Dr Mohan Alva picks up the traditions from nook and corners of all over India and exhibits them in the cultural extravaganza held here there by putting his best efforts to educate the young generation about the various cultures followed in India.
