Mangalaru,nov.14: Corporation Bank’s “Corp Kiran” – An association of wives of senior executives of the Corporation Bank and women employees of the Bank extended support to four institutions in Mangalore – Govt. Higher Primary School, Bangre Kasaba, Ave Maria, Centre for Palliative Care, Vamanjur, Mangala Jyothi Integrated School, Vamajoor and Savayava Krushi Pariwar on 14th November 2014 at Mangalore. Smt. Sumitra Bansal, President, Corp Kiran along with other members of “Corp Kiran” were present on the occasion.
On the occasion of Children’s Day – the members of “Corp Kiran” family visited Govt. Higher Primary School, Bangre Kasaba and distributed sweets to the children. They also handed over tube lights and ceiling fans to the school. The association handed over ‘filing cabinets’ to Ave Maria, Centre for Palliative Care, Vamanjur for keeping the medical records of the patients. The institution looks after terminally ill patients who are suffering from diseases like cancer.
Members of “Corp Kiran” family handed over chairs to Mangala Jyothi Integrated School, Vamanjoor. The school provides education to specially privileged children such as orthopedically challenged, hearing and visually impaired along with the normal children of economically backward parents. Out of the 600 students studying in the school, about 150 are disabled.
The association handed over weighing machines and steel tables to Savayava Krishi Pariwar which is regularly organizing market for the sale food grains, vegetables, fruits which are grown following organic farming methods. The specialty of the market is that the farmers themselves sell the agricultural produce grown by them and they are able to get full price paid by the customers. Women from weaker sections who prepare items like pappad and pickle also sell their produce at the market.
Corporation Bank, a leading public sector bank had formed Corp Kiran for carrying out such CSR activities. Various amenities are provided to the underprivileged and downtrodden members of the society under the auspices of ‘Corp Kiran’.
“Corp Kiran” has units in corporate office as well as at the Circles and Zones of the Bank. The CSR activities include provision of food and clothing for the poor school children, orphanages, old age homes, destitute homes, physically challenged people and medical help to people in distress from the weaker section of society. Organizing health checkup, blood donation camps, community developmental activities benefiting poor and the disabled, green initiatives like tree plantation drives, maintaining greenery, engaging in empowerment activities like vocational trainings, adult education programmes etc. are some of the activities being carried out.
