Mangaluru, November 20: As part of the 145th Deeparadhane fest of Sharavu Shree Mahaganapathi Temple, the Gurji Deepothsava was grandly celebrated at Ballalbhagh and Mannagudde on Wednesday night, November 19th. Devotees participated in large numbers and accepted the prasadam of Lord Ganesh.
The devotional and cultural events were organised on this occasion by the Mannagudde Gurji association. The Director of Shrinivas Group of Colleges inaugurated the Bhajan program; post this various bhajan groups carried bhajans.
The administrative director of the Indian Overseas Bank Dr M Narendra Nayak inaugurated the cultural program. Artist Sithar Shree Kochikar Devdas Pai conducted the Karnatak,Hinduathani and Abhangvani programs. Shree Kanth Nayak Puttur palyed the tabala and Uday Kumar Kini joined hands in rhythm.
The team Mangalore and Nagesh Rao who went on a cycle tour to Himalayas was felicitated. Dr B R Samaga- Former Dean of Suratkal NITK, M Raghavendra Bhat, General Manager, Karnataka Bank, was present.
The working president of Mannagudde Gurji Seva Samithi- B Vasudev, Vice-President Nagendra T A, secretary P Bahrgava Tantri, Bhanumathi, President, Women’s Union, participated in the fest.
Vice-president Ramananda Pangal welcomed. Invocation was done by Shree S Upadhaya and joint secretary Rajendra Kalbhavi compered the program.
Thenkuthittu Yakshagana was presented at the end of program under the direction of Surekumeri Govinda Bhat.
