Mangaluru, November 21: A press release stated, after a huge gap of over 12 years, the biggest off-road two wheler National Racing Championship  – MRF MoGrip FMSCI National Supercross Championship 2014 penultimate round 5 will be held at Mangluru on November 23rd.

Supercross is a motor cycling sport that involves off-road motorcycles racing on an artificially created dirt track consisting of steel jumps and obstacles.

The 15th edition of the MRFMoGrip-FMSCI National Supercross championship has attracted almost 100 entries for each of the 6 rounds to be staged across the country.

Supercross is gaining popularity in India, with close to twenty thousand spectators thronging each of the venues last year, leading to an increase in participation and growing involvement and support from corporate houses and media alike.

MRF Tyre Limited is the title sponsor. TVS Motor Company, Hero Moto Corp, SidvinOil and Gas and IOC Servo are associate sponsors.

God speed (Pune) is organising the 6 round championships.

In Mangalore, we have a immense amount of support from the local organisation –MMSA headed by Sudheer B K.

K P Aravind (Team TVS, Bangalore), Harith Noah (Team TVS) are some of the Indian riders who have participated in recent Asian Supercross events in Sri Lanka and the UAE. Those will be the names to watch out for along with privateers Jignesh Patel (Team 9T9 Racing) and Jatin Jain (Nagpur), Sure to be wowing the spectators with their daredevil style. Rakesh, Jagadish, Suhail, and Naresh are the force of the HERO 9T9 Racing Team and will lead the battle in Group C races.

The exciting JR SX will have Yash and Rugved fighting for the lead.

Factory-backed Team TVS and HERO 9T9 Racing are among the top teams in the fray.

Close to 40 thorough bred motor cycles will be seen in action in the re-christened SX 1 and SX 2 categories, while the newly introduced Junior SX category is exclusively for riders below 15 years of age.

The categories and 2013 champions are:

  1. SX 1 (Foreign Open, Group A, Two/four Stroke, up to 250cc Two-Stroke and 500cc Four Stroke) –KP Aravind (Team TVS, Bangalore).
  2. SX 2 (Foreign Open, Group A, Two/four Stroke, up to 250cc Two-Stroke and 500cc Four Stroke) – Gauav Khatri (New Delhi)
  3. Junior SX (Open to Group A/B/C/D up to 260 cc). Below 15 years. Newly-introduced.
  4. Indian Expert Class, Group B, (Two/ Four Stroke, up to 260cc) – Pramod Joshua (Team TVS, Bangalore).
  5. Indian Expert Class, Group C, (Two/ Four Stroke, up to 260cc) – Pramod Joshua (Team TVS, Bangalore).
  6. Private Expert Class, Group C, (Two/ Four Stroke, up 260cc)- VS
    Naresh (Bangalore).
  7. Novice Class, Group C, (Two/ Four Stroke, up to 260cc) – Sihail Ahmed (Team TVS, Bangalore).
  8. Local Class.

A big highlight is the “International Supercross and Motors Training Camp organised by the FIM and FMSCI alongside this event in Mangalore and BRAD RIPPLE, who is a PRO rider in the USA will be here to conduct the same and coach our Indian talent on different aspects of SX and MX including classroom sessions, exercise regimes, racing techniques and motorcycle setup.

Other than the training program, Brad has himself designed the technically demanding track which is about 800 meters in length which include 25 jumps, a step-up-jump, whoops and berms. Going into the 2nd half of the championship with this event in Mangaluru, the organizers have created a very demanding track, which will separate the boys from the men; conditions are expected to be hot, humid and dusty on the race day.The scrutiny and administration checks for this event will be held on Friday November 21st and Saturday November 22nd 0f 2014.
