Mangaluru,dec.1 : The Rotary Club of Mangalore Central in association with Rotaract Club of Mangalore City and Indian Academy of Pediatrics, D.K. Branch conducted the ‘16th annual Rotary inter orphanage Olympics Sports & Cultural Competition’ exclusively for the orphanage school children as a part of their community development oriented projects on 30.11.2014 at Geetha S.M. Shetty Sabha Auditorium.
The Aloysian Boys Home, Kotekar secured the first place and were declared Champions for their overall performance in Sports and Cultural competition events and lifted the glittering Rotary Trophy. City based Shree Shradananda Sevashram orphanage was declared as the runners-up.
The Rotary Dist Governor Elect Rtn. Dr. Bharathesh graced the occasion as Chief Guest and presented the glittering trophy to the champions and runners-up and congratulated them for their excellent performance. Asst Governor Rtn. Sathish Bolar was the guest of honour on this occasion. Organising Committee Chairman Rtn. Dr. Devdas Rai, Club President Rtn. Santhosh Shet, Secretary Rtn. Naveen Kumar and Indian Academy of Pediatrics (I.A.P.) D.K. Branch President Rtn. Dr. Shivaram Rai were present on this occasion. Rtn. K.M. Hegde compeered the programme. Rotaract President Rtr. Prasad Kumar proposed a vote of thanks.
The Indian Academy of Pediatrics (I.A.P.) D.K. Branch conducted a free health check-up camp under the leadership of the Secretary Dr. Ashvij Shriyan for the 600 inmates of 10 orphanages of the city and distributed free medicines during this occasion as a part of their community service.
