Mangaluru, December 30: A civil engineering student has reportedly committed suicide in her hostel room at Vulachil, near Adyar, outskirts of Mangaluru on Monday December 29th.
The deceased is identified as Poornima, who was pursuing second year civil engineering at Srinivas Engineering College.
She stayed in room number 405 of Srinivas College hostel, along with three other girls said the police sources.
It is gathered that, on Monday morning, two of her roommates attended the class while Poornima stayed behind. Another roommate is said to have gone on holidays.
In the evening, when her roommates returned to the hostel room after class hours, they found the door of the room locked from inside. They knocked the door continuously and called out for Poornima, but there was no answer. They then informed others, and the door was forced open. Poornima was found hanging from the fan.
The reason behind the suicide is unknown.
A case has been registered by Bunder cops.
