Moodbidri, December 30: Strict vigil has been deployed at Alva’s College in Vidyagiri, Moodbidri; since Monday evening after the news had appeared on the media that a person named as Abdul Khan has tweeted threatening that he would blast at Alvas College campus.
Along with Panambur ACP RaviKumar, Moodbidri SI Ramesh Kumar, additional police force has been deployed at Alvas campus, Vidyagiri, Moodbidri. The police are thoroughly inspecting the people who are moving about in the vicinity.
As the news was on air, Dr Mohan Alva has received numerous calls from all over the state. The parents are anxious over the security of their children. Many staffs of Alvas College have received similar calls from the worried persons.
To obviate the anxiousness of parents of over 18,000 students pursuing education here, Alva’s management arranged to send bulk messages to the cell phones of the parents. The management said as of now, no such student with the name Abdul Khan is studying in the educational institutions run by the organization, and that records are being scrutinized whether any such student had studied here in the past.
Speaking to the media, Dr Mohan Alva, the chairman of Alvas institution said, “Threatening messages are continually sent over the social networking sites. As the technology is improving, the security system of the country ought to improve in synchronization. There must be a system to trace the culprits within five minutes those who spread threatening messages via the social sites such as twitter. Else it would be difficult to face such incidents”, he said.
He revealed, additional security has been deployed at the Alva’s campus and the parents need not be anxious over it. The security system in the campus on other days has also been tightened, and now even the cops have also undertaken a strict vigil in the campus, Said Dr Mohan Alva.
