Mangaluru/Udupi, December 31: According to higher sources, it is reported that Senior IPS officer S Murugan will be appointed as the new police commissioner to Mangaluru city.
ASP Annamalai, who has recently taken additional charge at Kundapur, will reportedly be appointed the superintendent of police (SP) of Udupi district.
The official announcement is not yet made, and sources said that the orders would be dispatched by night of December 31st or on January 1st– 2015.
Murugan would be replacing R Hitendra- the present city police commissioner.
Murugan is basically from Tamil Nadu and is an IPS officer of 1997 batch. Currently, Murugan is serving as the IG and commander of Anti-Naxal Force in Bengaluru. He is also honoured with the President’s Medal for meritorious service.
Annamalai would replace Rajendra Prasad, who had taken charge as superintendent of police (SP) of Udupi district about 4 months ago.
Annamalai, ASP of Karkala and Kundapur taluks, hails from Coimbatore. Born to J R Kuppeswamy and K Parameshwari, he has pursued BE (Mechanical Engineering) and MBA. He is an IPS officer of 2011 batch.
His very first posting itself was as ASP of Karkala. Under his guidance, the Karkala police station rose to the fame of a model police station. This year, on November 29th, he was given the additional charge of Kundapur.
