Mangalore, May 28: Gagan Acharya, son of KV Acharya, an electrical contractor by profession, mother Shantha V Acharya, a homemaker and a student of Lourdes central school (LCS) scored the highest marks in Dakshina Kannada in the class XII examination of the central board of secondary education, the results of which was announced on May 27, Monday.
He secured 482 out of 500. He scored 100 in mathematics, 99 in computer science, 96 in chemistry, 92 in physics, and 95 in English.
Gagan told that he wants to do mechanical engineering in any one of the Indian Institute of Technologies. He has secured 250 out of 360 in Joint Entrance Examination (Main). “He could score good marks because of the support of his parents. He studies about three hours every day. Apart from preparing for the next level examinations, he is developing software as it is his hobby.”
Sharachchandra NB, another student of LCS, scored 481 out of 500 marks to finish second in the district. He has scored 95 marks in English and physics, and 97 marks in chemistry, mathematics and biology.
Sharachchandra too is aspiring for a seat in one of the IITs.
Sharachchandra said, “I want to study aerospace engineering as my dream is to work in NASA.”
He scored 280 out of 360 in JEE. Sharachchandra said, “Since I have joined for JEE coaching classes. It helped me to score well in class XII examination.” He is the son of doctor couple Narayan Bhat and Sudha Bhat.
JEE is an annual entrance examination for the admission to undergraduate engineering courses in NITs, IITs and other central government funded institutions.
PERFECCENTUM
LCS and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya secured 100% results. Out of 62 students appeared for the exam from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Panambur, 61 students cleared it. Amey Kulkarni topped in the school by scoring 480.
Eight of the nine students appeared for the exam from Sharada Vidyanikethan Public School cleared it.
