Mangalore, May 30: The third graduation ceremony of St Aloysius College (autonomous) will be held in Loyola hall of the St Aloysius PU College here on June 1.
Sekhar Basu, director, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai will be the chief guest and deliver convocation address. Rev Fr Francis Serrao, president, Mangalore Jesuit Educational Society (MJES) and provincial, Karnataka Jesuit province will preside, AM Narahari, registrar, SAC said.
Sekhar will also award degrees to over 500 students on this occasion. Nearly 1,500 under-graduate and post graduate students who have passed and completed their course in May 2013 will receive their degree certificates.
Rev Fr Denzil Lobo, vice-president, MJES and rector, St Aloysius Institutions, Rev Fr Swebert D’Silva, principal, and Narahari will also be present. Established in 1880, the college became autonomous in 2007.
Narahari added that Sekhar Basu will also inaugurate the St Aloysius College Advanced Research Centre prior to the graduation ceremony at a separate function to be held at teletorium of the college. Tumkur University has recognized this centre of the college, which the national Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has re-accredited with an ‘A’ grade with a CGPA of 3.48, Narahari said, adding Sekhar will deliver a special lecture after inaugurating the centre.
