Mangaluru, March 2: Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim conducted a spot inspection at Nanthur junction accompanied by NHAI officials and MCC commissioner on Monday March 2nd in the wake of the recent terrible accident here and frequent complaints from the public.
DC Ibrahim spoke to reporters post the inspection of junction and discussing the matter with officials, said, from quite some time major accidents have occurred at Nanthur junction. We have been receiving complaints quite frequently from citizens and people’s representatives mentioning this as an unscientific road.
Hence the inspection was conducted along with the authorities to study the situation here. We have detected some issues here for which we are working to provide a temporary solution. To find a long-term solution, NHAI has already sent a Rs 60-crore proposal to the central government for an underpass, which is yet to be approved. Discussions regarding the issue were held with NHAI and to provide a solution soon, he said.
He also said there was a need to set up speed breakers to limit the speed of vehicles. DC also suggested shifting the bus stop at Nanthur 100 meters away.
Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, MCC commissioner said, the spot has been inspected to study the ground realit. There is a proposal to install a speed breaker as a temporary solution and discussions are on with the NHAI. The soil accumulated near the divider will be cleared immediately.
ACP (traffic) Udaya Nayak said, the bus stop near the Nanthur junction will be shifted near Ullas Wine shop in the vicinity. The divider would be narrowed to make it two-lane on either side and free left turn will be allowed on road leading to Bikarnakatte. He said, the permanent solution will be the construction of flyover.
DCP (Crime) Vishnuvardhan, and other officials were present.

INSTEAD OF DOING AGAIN AND AGAIN TEMPORARY SOLUTIONS LET THE AUTHORITIES DO A PERMANENT SOLUTION NOW ITSELF.
