Mangaluru, March 26: A bank security guard at Kotak Mahindra Bank, Kodialbail in Mangaluru died after his gun accidentally fired while on duty on Thursday March 26th.
Thammaiah (55) from Madikeri is the deceased. He was employed as a security guard at the Bank.
As per eyewitnesses, Thammaiah was climbing up the stairs to go to the toilet on the first floor of the Bank. Meanwhile, the double barrel gun in his hand had accidentally fired and the bullet which penetrated straight into his neck killed him instantly on spot.
Kadri cops have rushed to the spotand investigations are underway. The forensic team has also arrived to the spot.
It is learnt that, Thammaiah was staying at Padil here while his family stays in Madikeri.
He has two daughters, both of whom are married. He had been working in the bank since the past three years, and had taken five months leave sometime ago, said the sources.
DCP Vishnuwardhan who had arrived to the spot said that this was the second time Thammaiah had accidentally fired his gun, but luckily no one was injured in the previous incident.
Satish, son-in-law of Thammaiah who stays at Suratkal, said that he rushed to the spot soon after he saw the news in media. He said that his father-in-law Thammaiah, had neither health issues nor any other problem.
