Mangaluru, April 6: Aafreen Rachel Vaz, Mangaluru lass who recently won the runner-up crown at Femina Miss India 2015, was extended a warm welcome on her arrival from Mumbai at Mangalore International Airport here on Monday April 6th. She would now represent India at Miss International 2015 pageant.
Addressing the media at the airport, Aafreen thanked Mangalureans for supporting her and expressed her happiness to return to Mangaluru. She said she was very much excited to come to Mangaluru. My friends, teachers and all are full of warmth and I am specially grateful to Charan Suvarna (of Fashion ABCD) and family for their support. Mangaluru has given me the highest support in my month-long journey in Miss India contest, she said.
She also revealed that she will be representing India on international platforms soon. “I am very happy to see the crowd here,” she added.
Aafreen sharing about her experience at the contest said, it was a very tough competition. All the contestants were very competitive and focused. The pageant is getting better every year, she said.
About her future plans she said, right now she intends to focus on international pageant, as the Miss India organization is investing a lot on her and she too invests a lot. She is getting the best trainees and guided by best experts, so she currently focuses on international crown. She also said, she will balance her studies in medicine which is also her passion.
When queried on how she could balance between her studies and preparations for the Miss India pageant, she said, she pursues medicine at AJ Institute. Her college has been extremely supportive. While she was away for a month, she spoke to all her lectures via phone.
She said that, the management especially chairman A J Shetty and vice-president Prashant Shetty were extremely supportive. She would discuss again with them as how to balance between studies and prepare for the international pageant. But of course, she will pursue her studies, she expressed.
Charan Suvarna and Anupama Suvarna of Fashion ABCD, Laxman Sunder, faculty from AJ Institute, Aafreen’s friends and airport authorities welcomed her.
