MANGALORE: Minister for Information Technology and Biotechnology SR Patil said that IT parks will be coming up in tier II cities including Udupi in the state soon.
“Udupi district in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake has agreed to arrange 125 acres of land to set up IT park in Udupi. IT parks will be set up in all the tier II cities in the first phase and tier III cities will be considered in the next phase,” Patil said.
He also pointed out that Mangalore is not far behind when it comes to IT sector. “Mangalore has the potential to earn more through IT sector. IT Parks can be set up in Mangalore too. Chief minister Siddaramaiah will convene a meeting of stakeholders in Bangalore on June 20 to discuss about introducing more IT parks in the state,” Patil said adding that all government departments will be made paperless through IT.
“In Bangalore, about 3,000 IT companies earn revenue to the tune of Rs 1,35,000 crore a year, which is more than the state’s budget outlay,” he further added.
