Dr D Veerendra Heggade will be the chief guest at International Yoga Day in New Delhi

Beltangady, June 18:  Dharmadhikari of Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala, Dr D Veerendra Heggade, will participate as chief guest in the International Yoga Day celebration at Rajpath New Delhi on June 21st.

International Yoga Day will also be observed at Dharmasthala on the same day, said principal of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, Dr Prashanth Shetty.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday June 17th, Dr Prashanth Shetty said that in 2014, a new Guinness World Record was created when 62,827 students had performed Yoga at the same time at 47 different centres in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts. In recognition of this achievement, the union government has extended invitation to Dr Heggade, he said.

Dr Veerendra Heggade will also be the chief guest at the International Yoga Conference being held at Vigyan Bhavan New Delhi on the same day.

He also informed that, on June 21st about 4,000 students who were part of the Guinness Record stated above will demonstrate yoga postures from 8 to 8.30 am that day.

Yoga and moral education project director, I Shashikant Jain, Shantivana Trust secretary, B Seetaram Tolpadithaya, and head of Yoga department of naturopathy college, Dr Shivaprasad Shetty, were present in the press conference.
