Mangaluru, June 20: A Malaysian student who stays in Mangaluru has lost Rs 1.18 lakhs from his account to unknown persons.
Mohammed Toufeeq, from Malaysia is pursuing MBBS in Kasturba Medical College in the city.
In his complaint he has stated that he was shocked to see the messages on his mobile phone that Rs 1.18 lakhs were withdrawn from his account between 10.47 pm on June 18th and 5.04 am on Friday, June 19th.
A case has been registered by Mangaluru north police and investigations are underway.
During the primary investigation it is learnt that the cash were withdrawn from the ATM’s abroad. It is suspected that the debit card might have been cloned.
