Mangaluru, July 10: Due to heavy showers, many calamities have been reported from many areas across the coastal area. In one such incident, a retaining wall of an apartment has collapsed at Gurunagar in Maryhill in the city.
It is learnt, the retaining wall of ‘Vailankanni Abode’, apartment complex by Vishal Enterprises has collapsed after the city witnessed heavy rains from over past 24 hours. No injuries were reported. This happened in the early morning on Friday July 10th.
A resident said, due to heavy showers, the retaining wall has collapsed. The building is in a dangerous position. We have already informed the authority concerned about the present condition of the building, and they have agreed to set it right.
It is learnt that approximately 18 families live in the apartment building.
Speaking to the media, manager of Vishal Enterprises, said the retaining wall of the property that has collapsed due to rains, and it will not affect the building. As water flows into the property through other compounds, it has led to the collapse of the retaining wall. Already 40 people are working at the site to clear the remains using machineries, he said and assured that things will be set right soon.
