“Tenas Parba” celebrated in University College campus in the city.

Mangaluru, August 03: A festive appearance was witnessed in the University College campus in the city, with the “Tenas Parba” event being jointly organised by the Koti-Chennaiah Yuva Vedike along with the Rotract Mangaluru City and Barke friends.

Day long ‘Tenas parba’ witnessed good support from the public’s. The event comprised of exhibition of various cuisines prepared in the “Aati season” in Tulunadu, various medicinal leaves, roots, variety pickles, organically grown vegetables, household medicines, along with this; Yakshagana, dance of Aati Kalenja, paddaana songs were presented on the stage. The event also included an exhibition of the articles used by the lineage in Tulunadu, old cameras, Iron boxes, Conches and other items.

Kankanady Bramha Baidarkala shrine president K Chittaranjan inaugurated the event in the morning.

Muddu Moodubelle, folklore scholar presented a lecture in the program. He said although the seniors in the lineage were deprived of school education, they followed the cultures of Tulunadu. Now, through the Tenas Parba, the Tulu culture is unfurled, he said.

Former governor of 3181district Rotary Dr B DevdasRai, Mangalore City Corporation and Development standing committee president Deepak Poojary, Honorary president of Barke friends Yajneshwara Barke, and Kuthluru Billava Mahila Sangha president Yashoda were the guests.

Koti-Chennaiah Yuva Vedike president Nithin Ulall welcomed the gathering while Rotract club president Rajesh Devadiga thanked. Nagraj Rao compeered the program. Dinesh Holla, Ratankar Kulai and Padmanabha were honoured who cooperated for organizing the event.

Variety delicacies presented by Kuthluru women:

As many as 40 women Kuthluru of Belthangady presented about 40 varieties of traditional cuisines prepared in Tulunadu was one among the uniqueness of the event.

Tulu folk dance competitions were also organized during the program. Competitions for the high school and college students were held separately.

Third-  Anandshrama high School, Someshwara

College division:

First-       Gokarnanatheshwara College

Second-  Ramakrishna College

Third-  Mangaluru University College

The jury comprised of Gowtham Shetty, Yathish Salayn, and Swapna.
