Mangaluru, August 10: The dead body of a priest working for International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) was found in river Netravati at Adamkudru here on Sunday August 9th. The incident has aroused suspicions that whether it is a case of suicide or murder.
The deceased is identified as Raghava Govinddas (28).
Raghava Govinddas is from Bengaluru and worked with ISKCON Mangaluru. A few days ago Raghav’s elder brother had arrived at ISKON Mangaluru.
On Sunday, while Raghava Govinddas was moving near river Nethravathi near Adamkudru, he had fallen into the river and later went missing.
After the police were informed about this and an operation was launched to search the body, the dead body was found near Adamkudru. When the body was retrieved, a bag was also obtained which was hung on the back of the deceased. A stone was also found tied to it.
The police suspect that the deceased might have tied the stone to this bag, plunged into the river and committed suicide.
Narendra, elder brother of Raghava Govinddas has filed a complaint with the Ullal police stating that someone has murdered Raghava Govinddas and thrown him into the river. As a stone was found in the bag of the deceased, the murderers might have killed Raghava Govinddas using a stone and later tied it to the bag and might have thrown it along with the deceased, explained Narendra in his complaint.
A murder case has been registered based on the complaint filed by Narendra Kamath- elder brother of Raghava Govinddas. The Ulall police have taken up the investigations.
