Pampa award should have been presented to Kayyar Kinhanna Rai 20 years ago: Dr Vivek Rai in “Kayyararige Nudi Namana” programme.

Mangaluru, August 12: Late Kayyar Kinhanna Rai had been honoured with the “Pampa award” during the last time. But this was supposed to be awarded 20 years ago. Due to the politics in the field of literature, this award was presented after delay to Kayyar Kinhanna Rai, expressed Writer Dr Vivek Rai, Retired chancellor of Karnataka University.

Dr Vivek Rai spoke at the “Kayyararige Nudi Namana” programme organized by the D K District Kananda Sahitya Parishad to mourn in public, the demise of Late Kayyar Kinhanna Rai. The programme was held at the SDM college auditorium here.

Kayyar was also noted in reaching the messages wonderfully to the people through his poems as like the poems of Bendre. He had to be presented with more awards for his services in various fields including literature. But Kayyar did not go behind all those, said Dr Vivek Rai.

Professor Ramachandrappa, after offering his verbal condolences, said although most of the dreams of Nadoja Kayyyar had been fulfilled, but his desire that Kasargod must again merge with Karnataka was remained unfulfilled, he said.

On this occasion, Aeryalakshminarayna Alva, District Kananda Sahitya Parishad President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura and others expressed verbal condolences to the great poet Late Kayyar Kinhanna Rai on this occasion.
