Mangaluru, August 22: “Hasiru Torana”- a collection of environmental poems written by the students of St Joseph College, Jeppu, Mangaluru was released by noted environmentalist Saalumarada Thimmakka at the college auditorium on Saturday August 22nd.
Saalumarada Thimmakka was also felicitated on this occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Shreesha Kumar, Sanskrit lecturer at Vivekananda College, Puttur said, we have to follow in the footsteps of Thimmakka. Today’s world is completely different. There were lot of trees in our district, but now we can see numerous buildings. Our education, degree, post graduation, all that is nothing in front of Thimmakka. Lecturers must teach humanity to students. If you want 24×7 healthy life then praise and support Saalumarada Thimmakka, he said.
Umesh B N, adopted son of Thimmakka, Fr Lawrence D’Souza, Indiramma Beluru, writer of ‘Salumarada Saradaarini Thimmakka’, Dinesh Holla, R Durga Menon and others were also present on this occasion.
