Bantwal, September 5: The Vitla and Bantwal police under a joint operation successfully cracked the fight and then murder which took place between the two gangs from Kerala and arrested two prime accused. Police seized a car and weapons used for the murder.
The arrested are identified as Rafiq alias Nappat Rafeeq alias Muhammed Rafeeq (26) resident of Attegoli in Kayyara village, Uppala, and car driver Paddu alias Padmanabha (24) from Bayikatte in Paivalike.
The accused are arrested as per the information revealed by the auto rickshaw driver Ikku alias Mohammed Iqubal Poyyagadde who was arrested on the allegations of helping the attackers to flee after the incident and also after information provided by youths of Kinyana area with criminal background.
On August 30th the accused in Kinyana town had dashed their car to a bike on which two men were returning from a wedding. The accused also attacked on bike borne youths with weapons. In the attack, Asif alias Mohammed Asif (26) expired on spot. Hakim and Riayz were injured. A case on this attack was registered at Vittal police station.
It was alleged that one year ago, Mohammed Asif and Riyaz had attempted to murder Ziya from Paivalike. It was revealed during the police investigations that, due to the same rivalry, right hand of Ziya, named as Nappat Rafeeq and team had committed this murder.
Other accused who were involved in this murder have absconded and cases are field against those who helped accused to flee and also against those who provided shelter to accused in Kerala area. The information will be collected about persons in Kinyana, Mittanadka, Mandiyur, Salettur Telekki area who help the members of the two gangs and legal actions would be taken against them, informed the police department.
Among the arrested, Nappata Rafeeq faces cases of murder, attempt to murder and theft at police stations in Kasargod, Manjeshwar, Kumbale, Vittal, Puttur rural, Madikeri police stations. In some places he would procure bail on arrest and frequently involve in various cases, police said.
Under the guidance of District Superintendent of Police, Dr S D Sharanappa, Additional Superintendent of Police- Vincent Shantakumar, and assistant superintendent of police Bantwal sub-division- Rahul Kumar, led by Bantwal police circle inspector K U Belliappa, Bantwal Rural police station house officer- Rakshit A K, Vittal police station house officer, Prakash Devadiga, assistant sub-inspector- Anand Poojary, Mangaluru DCBI ASI Sanjeeva Purusha and other personnel’s participated in this arrest operation.
