Mangalore, June 29: Urva police team who could succeed in apprehending an accused in Anjana, Manager in Syndicate bank, Katipalla branch, murder case.

Addressing the felicitation programme organized at Urva police station premise M Shashidhar Shetty, former Mayor,corporator said in his speech that four police personnel  Dharmendra, Vincent Rodrigues,Santhosh Sasihithlu and crime branch senior staff Om Das,have taken major role in nabbing the accused have been felicitated for their sincerity and efficiency in performing their duties.

He further said that police people never become people friendly but police from here by mingling with public were able to crack the case, which is highly commendable and laudable, he said.

He also said that for citizen’s safety, police department is working day and night, when they realize that their service is being recognized by the public, they get more motivated and this motivation will help them to further intensify their service. Finally he concluded his speech by wishing police department all the success and hoping many such achievements from the department in days to come.

Details of the Incident:-

Anjana who was living with her mother at Urva,Gandhinagar was murdered on April 17 at Bejai.Sources said that one Mr Mahesh, who was staying in rented house, which belongs to Ravi has murdered Anjana by tying rope around her neck and gone missing ever since.

According to the sources accused Mahesh alias Santhosh alias Athmarao More, aged 35, first went to Gujarat, then to Mumbai and thereafter to Nepal and stayed there for two days. Then he went to his own native place Ratnagiri in Maharashtra. But instead of going to his own house, he went to his sister Anitha’s  house which is  in Kolhapur of Raighad and started staying there since one and half months and working with one cloth shop for Rs 10,000/salary.

When the urva police did come to know about his coming to Mangalore from North India, where he has been hiding all these days, waited at udipi railway station, they arrested him when he was supposed to alight from train on Sunday night.

Mobile phone which gave the lead :

Accused Mahesh, though he changed his SIM, he has not changed his mobile set. He got his friend’s SIM and put in his mobile, which helped police to nab him.

He was in jail for three years prior to this case. He had also murdered one girl in the same manner after loving her. In 2008,he was loving one Rajeshwari from Mulund,Maharashtra and murdered her in the same way.In this incident, he was in jail for three years and relieved on  parol and came to Mangalore and missing ever since.

In the beginning, he was working in a Bar near KSRTC, Bejai and he joined Fish Mongers in big Bazar as fish fryer. Thereafter he joined Poonja International hotel and then in Bombay Sales, Textile shop in central market.

When he was working with Fish Monger, Big Bazar, Bejai, Anjana used to come as a customer and became friendly with her. Gradually that friendship turned into love. He used to supply fish to her house also. When they decided to marry, girl’s parents did not approve the proposal. In between Anjana and Mahesh used to fight frequently.

In between Anjana asked Rs 1000/ from Mahesh on emergency. On April 16 evening Mahesh invited her to his room near Bejai Baliga Store in the pretext of giving money. Accordingly Anjana came to his house at 7.15 pm.There she had been murdered.

Refusal to the marriage,is the reason behind the murder:

During the time of interrogation, Mahesh admitted that refusal to marriage was the reason for her murder. Anjana did her MBA and was gainfully employed. AS Mahesh did not have proper qualification and employment, girl’s parents refused for this marriage. Even Anjana was not be crossed her parents limitation and thus she too opposed this marriage.

In the investigation process under the leadership of Police inspector Ramachandra Maledevar, staff Om Das, Santhosh Sasihithlu, Dharmendra, Vincent, and Kishore were participated.
