Mangaluru/ Bajpe, September 21: Two bike riders expired on spot after a tempo collided to a bike at Hunasekatte near Yekkaru falling under Bajpe police jurisdiction on Monday morning, September 21st.
Deceased are identified as Shivamurthy(27) and Santosh (25). One among the deceased is resident of Abbettu in Farangipet and the details of another are yet to be established.
It is gathered that today morning at about 8am, while two persons on a bike were moving towards Kateel from Bajpe, a tempo coming from opposite side collided to the bike. As a result the duos on bike were thrown on to the road, suffered severe injuries and one expired on spot, it is learnt.
But the other person was struggling for life. While he was being shifted to the hospital, he too expired on the way, it is said.
The tempo driver along with the tempo has fled the spot.
Although Shivamurthy had worn helmet, it had broken due to the accident and the head was damaged badly. Santosh also suffered serious injuries on his head, chest and stomach and expired.
The deceased youths were working in quarry at Yekkar. It is said one youth hails from Kushalnagar in Kodagu district and the other is from Badami.
Traffic was affected following the accident.
Although the Bajpe-Kateel road is state highway, due to the steep curves and narrow road, the stretch is prone to accidents, and innocents are losing lives, alleged the locals.
Bajpe police have registered a case and investigations are on.
