Mangaluru, October 16: B Janardhan Poojary, Former Union Minister and managing trustee of Kudroli Shree Gokarnanatheshwara Temple here performed the sacred ‘Urulu Seve’ and special pooja at Kudroli Gokarnanatha Temple on Friday October 16th against the implementation of the Yettinahole drinking water project
Janardhan Poojary who has turned 78 years, performed one round of ‘Urulu Seve’ along with corporator Radhakrishna and others and later offered pooja in the temple.
Later, Janardhan Poojary addressed the gathering and said, there is scarcity of drinking water due to insufficient rain. The Yettinahole project will affect the people of the coastal area, especially to Mangaluru city; which has many medical colleges and hospitals and also engineering colleges. If there is no water due to Yettinahole project, drought will surely hit the coastal area and the place may turn it into desert. From decades, there is a problem of drinking water in Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Tumakuru and Bengaluru, but this problem can be solved if there is political will. We are not against providing water, but only ask that people should not suffer. This pooja was performed to pray that Yettinahole project does not materialise and the ministers should come up with a decision to withdraw the project, he said.
T K Sudhir, Harikrishna Bantwal, Ajith Kumar Malady, trustees of the Kudroli Temple and others were present on this occasion. From far and near, many devotees had arrived at the temple to seek the blessings of the lord.
