Mangaluru, October 20: A day after the Mangaluru police announced about the arrests of four persons in the murder of flower vendor and Bajrang Dal activist Prashant Poojary that recently took place in Moodbidri town, the district VHP and Bajrang Dal alleged that Social Democratic Front of India (SDPI) and Popular Front of India (PFI) were behind the murder. They also demanded that PFI should be banned.
Sharan Pumpwell Bajrang Dal convenor addressing a press meet at VHP-Bajrang Dal office here on Monday October 19th said, with the arrest of the four accused it is clear that the PFI and SPDI are involved in the Prashant Poojary murder case. The same accused were also involved in attacks that took place at Permude and Handelu. Hence the government should ban the PFI which is anti-national. If the government does not ban PFI, Bajrang Dal and VHP will hold protests all over the state, district and taluk levels, warned Sharan Pumpwell.
This murder has been committed as the VHP and Bajrang Dal have been protesting against illegal cow slaughter and cattle thefts. The police department should protect the activists who stop illegal cow slaughter and cattle thefts. The state government should bring a law to ban cow slaughter, said Sharan Pumpwell.
VHP working president Jitendra Kottari said, VHP and Bajrang Dal appreciates the efforts of police in nabbing the accused in ten days. The police should arrest the main accused instead of arresting innocents. He also demanded to provide compensation to the family of Prashant Poojary.
