Moodbidri, October 20: In relation to the Prashanth Pooajry murder case, the police produced the murder accused before the court at around 11.50am on Monday, October 19th after which three accused were detained under judicial custody while another accused was handed over to police custody.
Mohammed Ilyas (27) from Moodbidri, Ibrahim Liyakhat (26) from Naringana in Bantwal and Abdul Rashid (39) from Kilpadi, Mulki were subjected to fifteen days of judicial custody and the court ordered to send them to Ballary jail.
Main accused in the murder case, Mohammed Haneef (36) from Adaypadi in Bajpe has been handed over to police custody till Monday.
Under tight police security, the accused were taken to the spot of murder and post the inquest, the arrested were produced before the court.
It is said among the arrested; Mohammed Haneef was directly involved in the murder while the others provoked the murder.
Mohammed Ilyas is a Civil Engineer:
One among the accused, Mohammed Ilyas is a Civil Engineer. He is the son of Abdul Rahman from Sanur. Mohammed Ilyas was working with a builder in Moodbidri and was active member of PFI association, it is said. It is also said that he played a significant role in the meeting held after the shoot-out case of a lawyer here, and also in organizing the protest meet held at Rajeev Gandhi Town hall commercial complex in Moodibdri organized in the wake of the attack against the cattle theft in Gantalkatte. Provocative speeches against the Hindu associations were also heard in this meet, it is said. His name is also reportedly heard in the murder attempt of VHP leader Jagadish Shenava.
Another accused Mohammed Haneef is the son of P.K. Hamabba resident of Aadyapady; was the bike rider in this crime. He was also involved in the Permude and Handel incident, it is said.
The police are on a lookout for the other accused.
