Addressing a press meet at commissioner’s office in city on Saturday, October 24th, ADGP Alok Mohan said in connection to the murder of flower vendor and Bajrang Dal activist Prashanth Poojary in Moodbidri, police have already arrested 8 persons. Mohammed Imthiaz was arrested yesterday at Bombay airport while he was trying to escape to Dubai. Police reams are formed and the rest of the accused will be arrested soon. Police department will not spare any criminal, he said.

For a query on provocative statements circulating on social media he said all the crimes related to Internet come under information technology (IT) act. Internet is an ocean and police are monitoring everything possible. If anything objectionable is found, we request the public to inform the police officials. Strict action will be initiated against those who create trouble.

On being asked about the allegation of biased investigation by police department, ADGP denied the allegation and said a team of police officials are investigating the case and there is a hierarchy in the department. Hence there is no question of biased investigation and police discharge duties according to the law. Relatives and friends of accused will feel that the accused is innocent but without evidence police will not arrest anybody. We follow the strict guidelines from the supreme court, he said.

He further said, police officials have acted swiftly and arrested the culprits in the minimal time. I want to warn the anti- social elements that if anyone takes law into their hands, strict judicial actions will be initiated against them.

In the press meet, IGP, Amrith Paul, City police commissioner S Murugan and Superintendent of Police Dr S D Sharanappa were present.
