Local bodies election in Kasargod: voters seen waiting in queue to cast vote.

Kasargod, November 2: Polling for local bodies including gram panchayats, block panchayats and zilla panchayats began bodies in seven districts of Kerala including Kasargod, Kannur, Koshikode, Idukki, Waynad and Kollam on Monday November 2nd.

Citizens were seen waiting in the queue to exercise their franchise to elect their representatives for local.  In other districts, local bodies election will be conducted on November 5.

 

In addition elections are also being held for three Minicipal bodies today. A total of 2,651 candidates have contested, and 9,52,163 voters will be exercising their franchise.

Today, in Kasargod district, election is being held for 38 gram panchayats, 6 block panchayats, zilla panchayat and three municipalities. As many as 1,977 candidates including among whom 1,031 are women are in the fray. 60 candidates have contested for 17 zilla panchayat posts, and 260 candidates including 133 women are in the fray for the block panchayat elections. As many as 354 candidatures including 180 women are in the fray for three municipal elections.

As many as 3030 police personnel have been deployed all over the district for security. Personnel from of Anti Naxal Force, and additional police forces from outside the district and Karnataka have been put on election duty to ensure smooth conduction of elections.
