Mangaluru, November 4: Brisk investigations are going on about the double murder of undertrails that took place in Mangaluru sub-jail on Monday. State prison department ADGP Kamal Panth and ADGP (law and order) Alok Mohan on Tuesday November 3rd visited the jail and investigated.
ADGP Alok Mohan later held a meeting with the senior police officers at the Police Commissioners office here.
The Barke police have registered cases against nine prisoners in connection to the murder of undertrails Madoor Isubu and his associate Ganesh Shetty. Cases are registered against Pradeep Vamanjoor, Umesh Kombaru, Yuvaraj Soorinje, Shobaraj, Latesh, Mohammed Iqubal, Asif, Muneer, and Irshad. Those who were injured in the incident are recovering.
Pre-planned act:
It is being observed that the incident is preplanned and there are hands of other forces. The case is being investigated from all angles. In addition to the present accused, there are involvement of others and in this view enquiry is going on and they will also be arrested informed the ADGP ( Law and Order) Alok Mohan.
Police investigation led by DCP:
To investigate the case, a team has been formed led by Mangaluru DCP in which ACP including higher police officers are part of the team and investigations are done under the in-charge of police commissioner. The prison department is enquiring into the incidents that took place in jail and also the loop holes. The investigation has begun led by Mysore jail superintendent A V Ananth Reddy.
Confusion over the weapons entry into jail:
There confusions regarding how the accused in the double murders of undertrails inside the jail got the weapons.
The undertrails Maroor Isubu and Ganesh Shetty were murdered using knife and other deadly weapons. The police and prisons department could not clearly trace exactly how the weapons used for the crime came into the jail.
State police ADGP Alok Mohan speaking to the media in Mangaluru said, enqiry is being made into how the weapons came into the jail. A tree stands in a corner close to the sub-jail and its branch has extended towards the jail. There are chances that somebody might have climbed up the tree and threw the weapons inside. But, an investigation regarding this is being done from various angles, he explained.
40 injury marks:
While Madoor Isubu was walking in the morning, the accused undertrails attacked on him using knife and 40 injury marks were found in the body of Isubu. Ganesh Shetty was lodged in an adjacent cell of Isubu and injuries were found on head and face of the former, informed the ADGP Alok Mohan.
Security beefed up in jail premises:
Following the incident, security has been tightened in the jail premises and additional police have been deployed.
