Mangaluru, November 4: MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik has alleged the government’s negligence is the reason for the situation prevailing today. Although all the information were available that this part of the coastal Karnataka is becoming a habitat for all the underground activities, even the news media had also published articles along with related documents, and on behalf of the citizens, I had written about the illegal activities taking place in Mangaluru jail and also about the influence of underworld dons to the concerned authorities, home minister and the State Chief Minister; no actions were taken by the government that resulted in the situation today, alleged Capt Ganesh Karnik.

He said, the double murder and fight between groups that took place in sub-jail here are the instances to the failure of government and home department. The murder and deadly assault that took place in Permude, Handelu, Moodibri, Moodushedde, Thokkotu and other places over the past one month have shocked the people of coastal area. When these deadly incidents are looked into, doubt arises that whether the department that gives much priority to the petty issues; works under the influence of the accused that are behind these incidents. Otherwise, from where can the prisoners be supplied with mobiles, drugs, and deadly weapons? Though assault has taken place on jail staffs, the police department has not yet awaken which is a great tragedy, he said.

He also condemned the attack that took place on media representatives in Mangaluru while they had been for gathering the news of double murder of undertrails that took place in sub-jail. He also urged for stringent actions against the aides of Madoor Isubu.

The police department has failed to curb the increasing smuggling of drugs, fake currency circulation, illegal storage of weapons, shootout case in pub, threat calls from abroad, sand mafia that is widely taking place in coastal area, illegal cattle trafficking, illegal slaughter houses, increased drugs abuse among the students of renowned Educational Institutions, missing of females, and other illegal, immoral and anti social activities that are taking place in this part of coastal area. The department has completely failed to maintain law and order, said Capt Ganesh Karnik. He demanded the department to immediately take unbiased actions without bowing into any pressures.

I demand the in-charge minister and other ministers to discharge their constitutional duties, at least from now onwards, said Capt Ganesh Karnik in his press statement.
