Mangaluru, November 20: Gangadhar Padubidri, who was working as a reporter for Doordarshan (DD), has been acquitted of the charge of murdering his wife. He was arrested over two and a half years ago.
Gangadhar had been arrested after his wife Mamatha Shetty (32) was found murdered at his sister’s residence at Kodikal on July 15th, 2013. The first additional district and session’s court On Thursday November 19th, cleared him of all charges.
The Urwa police who had registered the case had filed the charge sheet in the court.
The defence counsel argued that there were no evidences to support the claim that there were differences between the couple and that Gangadhar was present at the scene at the time of murder. The defence also contended that there was enough proof to claim the presence of other family members in the house at the time of murder.
Senior advocate Tonse Narayana Poojary, Mitesh Poojary, Mohammed Farooq and Satish K, argued on behalf of Gangadhar.
