Bantwal/Mangalore, July 11: A leopard that had turned a nightmare and caused panic for the people living on the border of forest has finally been trapped in a cage in Chennaittody village in Bantwal taluk on July 11, Thursday morning.
Sources said that the leopard, which used to prey cows and calves in the agricultural field of local named Madhava earlier.
Dejected by recurring losses, Mahdava had laid a trap in the form of cage with a dog tied inside the cage as bait after having consulted with forest department officials.
As expected by Madhava, leopard arrived to the field and tempted to pounce upon dog and this time got trapped in the cage.
As soon as the news of leopard having been caught, hundreds of people made a beeline to the spot to catch glimpse of the trapped leopard. Later it was taken to Pilikula sanctuary by the forest department officials.
