Mangalore, July 12: Addressing the media reporters in the KDP’s trimonthly meeting (quarterly) held at Dakshina Kannada Zilla panchayat’s Netravati Auditorium, Ramanatha Rai, minister for forest, ecology and environment and district-in –charge said in his address that though during monsoon water is available in abundant in the district, during summer there might be a possibility of facing acute water scarcity problem in several parts of the district.
Therefore he urged the concerned officials to implement the drinking water projects in villages, which has already been sanctioned within stipulated time period.
Disagreeing with the statements given by officials of the concerned departments, which state that out of 14 new projects, DSR has been already prepared for ten projects and after finishing all the projects, the same will be submitted to chief engineer, Rai expressed his dissatisfaction over the projects and the result. He further added that people will be benefitted only when the projects are being completed within stipulated time period.
He further reiterated that there are ample opportunities in the district to implement many such projects but that has to be utilized properly. Therefore, he suggested the authorities to implement the projects wisely to eradicate scarcity of drinking water problem permanently.
He also said that new project of Moodbidri sports complex at the cost of around Rs 100 lac has already been designed and work has already been started as informed by the official from PWD department. Also directed the officials to include Sasihithlu in Moodbidri, Suratkal and Mukka along with Ullal and udipi sea shore under ADB project.
He also said that action will be taken against those who failed in accomplishing the desired results in accommodation projects.
Speaking in the review meeting held at zilla panchayat auditorium Rai informed that in view of providing nutritious food to pregnant women, government has decided to distribute nutritious food for 25015 pregnant women during the year 2013-2014.He added that 100% success has been observed by the end of June,2013.
Besides, he also informed that in view of providing nutritious food to children government has aimed to provide nutritious food to 54,901 children aged between 0-3 years, 43043 children aged between 3-6 years. By the end of June 2013, 53275 children of 0-3 years and 32927 children of 3-6 years have been provided with nutritious food, he added.
Official from Zilla health and family welfare department informed that blood test has been conducted for around 84930 people under national malaria control project and cases of 1290 people have been affected and confirmed, he added.
Minister has been informed that between April and June end, 425 cases of TB patients have been detected and after conducting test on Phlegm (cough) for around 4672 people, 148 patients have been treated properly and returned safely after recovering. 8 leprosy patients out of 12 patients detected have been recovered after the treatment. Also provided benefits to 1673 benefactors under Janani Suraksha scheme and 1582 benefactors under Thaayi Bhaagya scheme.
