Mangaluru, December 11: Circle Inspector Pramod of Mangaluru rural police station had to go home on leave as per the orders from the higher authorities. In relation to this, the personnels of the rural police station staged protest and let investigation be done through the home minister in connection to this incident. Through this let the real fact behind the incident be revealed to the people, informed MLA Mohiuddin Bava.

Addressing a press meet in the city on Thursday December 10th, MLA Mohiuddin Bava said that a old woman from pacchanady had come to me and said that her son was innocent, and complained that he has been arrested by the police. Hence I asked about it with the DCP of crime branch in Mangaluru Commissionerate. If the accused is innocent, I asked them to question him and take measures to release him, said Bava.

The next day, the higher authority directed Circle Inspector Pramod of Mangaluru Rural police station to go on leave. It is sad that, later on the police personnel’s of the station staged protest, he said.

He further said, innocents should not be arrested. The police should conduct a thorough investigation before arresting a person. Law and order should be maintained. If the police themselves stage protest and suspend work, who will maintain law and protect the citizens?, queried Bava.

If there are any complaints regarding the police department, or any demands from police personnel’s; this should have been initially brought to the notice of the higher authority. Protest should not have been staged suddenly.  Meanwhile, it is not fair that some associations are making use of this incident in a political way, said MLA Mohiuddin Bava.

Bava further said, during the protest, slogans were shouted against me and the district in-charge minister. The allegations made in this case that me and district in-charge minister have pressurised the police department.

Although Pramod has been appointed to rural police station on OOD from commissioner’s office, we have not made any attempt to transfer him to other place.  We have not directed him to go on leave. Meanwhile, some associations are unnecessarily making allegations on us; this is not right, said MLA Mohiuddin Bava.
