Mangaluru, December 11: In connection to the communal riots that took place in Ulaibettu, the Circle Inspector of Mangaluru Rural police station has arrested an innocent and filed case against him, alleged the president of Ullaibettu Nagarika Samithi Mohammed Iqubal.

Addressing a press meet in the city on Thursday, December 10th, he said, in connection to the Ulaibettu case, the complainant had given to the police, the name of Aboobacquer Siddique, son of Usman. But the Inspector of the station, instead of arresting him has arrested Aboobacquer Siddique, son of Shekabba. Due to mistaken identity by the police, an innocent has been arrested, alleged Mohammed Iqubal.

In the complaint filed in connection to the Ulaibettu riot case, names of 54 Muslims are mentioned. But in the complaint, the name of Aboobacquer Siddique, son of Shekabba is not mentioned. The circle inspector Pramod has filed case against him and has done injustice, said the member of the committee Abdul Nazir.

Pertaining to this, some members from the Ulaibettu Nagarika Samithi and the parents of Aboobacquer visited the rural police station and met Pramod Kumar and brought to his notice that a case has been filed against an innocent. But it was of no use, he said.

All the communities are living in harmony in Ulaibettu and no one has any hatred towards others. But this harmony is being spoilt due to the game of politics, he said.

He further said, in relation to the revolt that took place in Ulaibettu on December 5th -2014; the Mangaluru rural police are frequently visiting the houses of Muslims in Ulaibettu area and are troubling them. Against the outrageous behaviour of the police and false cases filed against some people, the Ulaibettu Muslim Jamath members had submitted a memorandum to the police Commissioner.

While submitting this memorandum, Shekabba’s son Aboobacquer Siddique was also present. Taking this pretext, the rural police on December 7th at about 5:40pm arrested him near Ulaibettu government school while he was returning after playing cricket and filed case against him, explained Nazeer.

Moreover, in relation to the Ulaibettu riot case, complaint was filed by Mohammed Sahid against eight activists of Bajrangdhal who conducted assault. But the rural police instead of taking actions against the accused, arrested the complainant Mohammed Sahid and Mohammed Iqubal and have done injustice, alleged Nazir.

Secretary of the association Siddique Kempugudde, Banta Aboobacquer Siddique Sambam Abdulla, members of the association and others were present in the press meet.
