Mangaluru, December 13: If the regional languages survive, only then the diversities in culture, and traditions of communities can be retained, said noted littérateur and film director Nagathihalli Chandrashekar.
He launched the Beary documentary, poetry, and duff instruments and uniforms distribution program organized by Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy on Sunday December 13th at Town Hall here.
There is a need to search the regional languages and develop them in today’s world of globalization. Due to the impact of English language, regional languages are also facing threat and Beary language also is facing the same danger. Hence we should love our mother tongue and develop it, he said.
MLA J R Lobo was the chief guest on this occasion.
Presiding over the ceremony, President of Beary Sahitya Academy B A Mohammed Hanif said, the work of saving the Beary language and culture is done by the academy. On this occasion, as many as 40 teams from different parts of the state were distributed duff instruments and uniforms.
The function was formally inaugurated by lighting the lamp by all the dignitaries on the dais.
Nagathihalli Chandrashekar and director of Beary language documentary and senior journalist B M Haneef were felicitated.
B A Mohammed Ali compeered the program. Abbas Kirugunda thanked.
Litterateur Prof A V Navada, Dakshina Kannada district Vakf Suggestion committee president S M Rashid Haji, Assistant director of Kannada and Culture department Chandrahas Rai, Ex MLC Masood, president of district Kannada Sahitya Parishat Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Konkani Sahitya Academy president Roy Castelino and others were present on this occasion.
