Mangaluru, December 21: The culmination programme of two-day long ‘Jananudi-2015’ was held at Shanthikiran in Nanthur on Sunday. The program was organized under the leadership of Abhimatha association.
The program was presided over by Dinesh Amin Mattu media adviser to the state Chief Minister .
Dinesh Amin Mattu addressed the gathering and said, people’s representatives elected by the citizens under the constitution and the other subsidiary bodies formed as per the constitution are moved aside and the forces that are not chosen through elections are leading the democracy. This development is a threat to the democracy. The awards returned by the writers are the protest made by the superior persons against intolerance. Through this it is evident that the writers and thinkers in the country will not remain quiet at all times. This is a significant development, he said.
Intolerance prevailed in the country thousands of years ago. For the same reason, Buddha, Basavanna, Periyar, Narayana Guru, and Ambedkar have formed the culture of revolting against the intolerance, he informed.
Renowned critic Prof Rahmat Tarikere spoke on this occasion and said, The Integrity of India lies in its diversity. The speciality of this place is the diverse culture that has grown here. We will become communists if we do not learn about the human values that the religions contain. Due to the fundamentalists of all religions, the rights of women and the weak are subdued. It is impossible to curb a community and strengthen another community, he said.
President of National critic association’s Prof Narendra Nayak also spoke on this occasion.
